Twin blasts in Baghdad kill more than 130
BAGHDAD — Suicide bombers in Iraq have killed more than 130 people and injured at least 500, in what appears to be the deadliest attack in two years. (ABC News)
Two car bombs exploded almost simultaneously, targeting the Justice Ministry and a provincial government building nearby.
The timing of the attacks has renewed suspicion that insurgents want to destabilise the government before national elections in January.
The bombings happened at the height of Baghdad’s morning rush hour. The Justice Ministry and provincial government buildings were destroyed and cars on the street were incinerated.
