MLB's agenda is promote only its big-market teams and ignore any successful small markets.

This is a contrast to the NFL where they believe in promoting all of its franchises'

A sports league is only as good as its weakest team but it is obvious that MLB is no longer a true major league and instead has become a league of various levels based on economics.

You have a the super duper big market teams (over 200 mil) Yanks
Then the super big market teams (150-200 mil): none
The big market teams (100-150 mil): dodgers, angels, cubs, white sox, mets, boston
The medium market teams (50-100 mil: cardinals, braves, rockies, etc
the small market teams (under 50 mil): padres, marlins, pirates

The yanks success is because of the huge advantage in salary that they have. Its like playing with a loaded deck.

Bryan,
That very well may have worked. Especially since they would start one game on TNT if the first game went to extra innings. The whole thing just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. This country didn't get to see very much of the Rockies vs. Phillies series, which has been one of the best series to date.

I agree. The way TBS has opted to televise the playoffs is ridiculous. Why minimize your viewing audience in the first round by starting games when people are still at work, and ending them long after fans on the East Coast have gone to bed? What they should have done is televise the AL race on TNT (TBS' sister station) and the NL games on TBS. That way, as opposed to televising the games regionally as you suggest, fans across the country could choose the game they watch. Also, by doing it this way, the games could be telecast in prime time and would hold larger viewing audiences.
