The works of some of the most respected international artists will be on display at the Denver Art Museum and up for auction at Salon du Musée, the signature fund-raising exhibition created by Salon d’Arts Inc.

The Nov. 14 event launches DAM’s monumental fall exhibition, Embrace!, and net proceeds from the auction benefit DAM. Embrace! explores the innovative and challenging ways that art “embraces” space in the museum.

Featured artists will exhibit one piece in the museum installation and contribute at least one additional work to the auction. The works will be sold during Salon du Musée, which is modeled after European art salons of the late 19th century.  Beginning Sunday, potential buyers can preview the auction works in the Modern & Contemporary Galleries of DAM’s Frederic C. Hamilton building.

“This is an exciting prospect for many attendees and potential collectors because the artists will be flying in from all corners of the world to mingle at the event and talk about their work and inspiration,” said Christoph Heinrich, the Polly and Mark Addison Curator of Contemporary Art.

Heinrich sees the exhibit as a celebration of both the museum’s architecture and world-class art. Pieces were created by international artists including El Anatsui, Zhong Biao, Nicola López, Katharina Grosse, Tobias Rehberger and Dasha Shishkin. American artists include Rick Dula, Matthew Brannon, Kristin Baker, Jessica Stockholder, Lawrence Weiner and John McEnroe. Embrace! Officially opens to the public Nov. 14 and runs through April 4, 2010.
