Road Trip Continues in the Big Easy

Coach Karl will miss the rest of the games on this road trip. He should be back on the bench when the Nuggets return home. As expected, Coach Dantley will fill in his spot. The road trip began with a win in Minnesota and will continue tonight in New Orleans, go to Memphis on Saturday and conclude in Houston on Monday.
Ty Lawson will also miss Friday’s game. He is still continuing to aide his injured shoulder. Anthony Carter will see more playing time, although he is not as talented as the young Lawson, he is a solid replacement. It would be nice if Carter cold be more of an offensive threat by working on his outside shot, like Lawson has done coming into the NBA.
Friday’s game in New Orleans should still be a win for Denver as New Orleans has had their share of season injuries, with Chris Paul out for the season. James Posey will also be out with the flu.
A lot of people are saying that Denver has a hard schedule for the rest of the season, but to me it just doesn’t look that hard.
I see only a few games that Denver has the possibility of losing, this road trip not including any of them (as long as they bring it in Memphis). The back to back game in Boston, is a possibility, due to it being the end of a back to back on the east coast, but the way Denver likes to make statements against the top teams this could easily be a win. Another could be either in Orlando and then the back to back in Dallas the next night, but don’t expect Denver to lose both of these games. The hardest back to back left of the season will be in LA after playing in O.K.C. the night before. We all know that the Lakers will be out to even the series and make a statement right before the playoffs. Oh, and they need to keep their eye on those hot Milwaukee Bucks on March 20th.
So there are maybe 3 or 4 hard games the rest of the way. Yes, Dallas has a cupcake of a schedule, but isn’t this why we play the games?
As long as Denver can continue to show the great depth with Chris Andersen and JR Smith (if you haven’t seen the Chauncey-JR Smith 360 alley oop dunk, YouTube it NOW!), they should be sitting pretty come playoff time.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a Denver-O.K.C. first round matchup?
