Why are cuts to education more reasonable than taxing yachts, second homes or private school tuition? With all our budget woes, why is taxing the rich a non-starter? Why should the luxuries of the few take precedence over the basic welfare of the society? Is this not a democracy? Does fairness not matter in a democracy? What is going to happen to the children of working-class people who don't have the opportunity to attend private schools? We are chasing a capitalist utopia: no taxes, no regulations, no shared public ownership of resources, no programs to protect the hungry. What makes this any less dangerous than a model where the state owns everything?
