Kroenke moves toward takeover of British soccer club Arsenal

Businessman Stan Kroenke — owner of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche — has moved another step closer to a takeover bid for the top British soccer team Arsenal, according to a news report Tuesday.

CNN International reported that Kroenke — already Arsenal’s top shareholder — has purchased another 427 shares in the English Premier League club’s holding company for $5.8 million.

That puts Kroenke’s stake in Arsenal — nicknamed the Gunners — at 29.6 percent.
