Kansas City ousts former Webb aide as city manager

A tumultuous Kansas City Council meeting Thursday ended with Cauthen being fired by an even split among councilmembers, a tie that was broken by Mayor Mark Funkhouser’s move to terminate the city manager.

Troy Schulte, the city’s budget director, will take over as city manager on an interim basis for at least six months.
