Is Melrose Place the new cougar town?
The CW network is bringing Heather Locklear back to Melrose Place to reprise her starring role as Amanda Woodward, the woman, who always has an agenda – and always gets her way.
Let’s just lay it out there, Amanda’s a bitch.
This new version of Melrose Place, which premiered three weeks ago, is definitely geared towards the typical CW demographic: hormone-raging, pimple-faced teenagers, college co-eds and 20-somethings. So why are the show’s producers bringing back female characters from the original MP, which ruled the airways in the early 90s?
I’ll tell you why. Cause these ladies are H-O-T hot!
Locklear is queen of the Melrose cougars since she’ll be 48-years-old on Friday; Josie Bisset, who plays Jane Andrews is 39; Laura Leighton, who plays Sydney Andrews is 41; and Daphne Zuniga, who plays Jo Reynolds is 47.
Laura’s character has already hooked up with one of the young studs on the show – and his father, of course. He’s another original cast member, Thomas Calabro, who plays Dr. Michael Mancini, and still looks damn good at 50!
There were a few other cubs visiting Laura’s den that we get to see in sexy flashbacks. (SPOILER ALERT: Laura died in the first episode – or did she? You never know on Melrose.)
So, the CW geared the new show towards fans from their teens to their 20s, but my fellow cougars – and me – are tuning in, too. Not only do we want to see how our favorite characters from the old MP grew – we also want to see the cute little cubbies our favorite MP cougars hook up with on the show.
Melrose Place is on the CW (KWGN) on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. Locklear makes her Melrose debut on Nov. 17.

The little fairy
on my shoulder
told me to cool it.
Hope Heather Locker’s return can save the show….this season has been great so far, and last night’s episode was the best yet. I couldn’t believe it when I read on Perez Hilton that the ratings are taking a big dive which is so stupid because this show is just getting better and they’re lining up great stars like Taryn Manning…so come on people stop being so LAME!
I was so glad they had Taryn Manning guest star last night – love her! She even pulled a gun on Jonah as they played the Boomkat song “Run Boy” – it was so great. There’s some videos of Taryn and company doing dance rehearsals for the Melrose Place episode floating around on YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Im5HQAO5yM ). Makes me so envious of her dancing…*sigh. Bring Taryn back for more episodes and let’s make Heather a full-time, permanent cast member again!
