Hundreds of Frontier jobs headed to Milwaukee

More than 200 Frontier Airlines jobs will move from Denver to Milwaukee after the Wisconsin city offered significantly more incentives to win a three-way bidding war that will allow it to create roughly 700 positions there in the long run. (Denver Business Journal)
Republic Airways Holdings Inc., which bought Denver-based Frontier in September, announced Tuesday that it is expanding its operations in Milwaukee, the home city of Midwest Airlines, which Republic also acquired earlier this year.
That includes the relocation of at least 300 jobs, including 200 heavy-maintenance positions now located in Denver and about 100 call-center employees now stationed in Las Cruces, N.M., Frontier spokesman Steve Snyder confirmed.

Is Mayor Hick like Green Gov. Tax Ritter?
Ie. both think ‘green jobs’ are worth mortgaging the future,
but not real jobs related to flying airplanes? Democrats never
like to relax taxes. They like to call them investments, but that is about it.
They talk good but don’t manage revenue stream as an investment. Where
would you rather live, Milwaukee or Denver. How hard would it be to compete ?
Gene, Milwaukee Mayor Barrett and Wisconsin Governor Doyle are both Democrats, so your attempt to score cheap political points doesn’t make sense. This was a business decision based on a number of factors – incentives is just one.
And to answer your question, I’d rather live in Milwaukee. Fantastic city – visit sometime if you get a chance.
Jacob,
I voted for Mayor Hick because I thought he was a businessman. He turned out to be a politician. My fault. Ever since we in Denver, went into hock to build Denver International Airport, we have been loosing airport business because it an expensive operation. United. Continental. Frontier. My understanding is our politicians have the advantage of offering somewhat less in bidding contests because of our Rocky Mountain lifestyle. But we loose to Chicago, Indianapolis, Salt Lake, Seattle, Milwaukee, you name it. Tax incentives, and environment are part of the package. It would seem to me, these are the types of job Colorado should be getting. We make a lot of noise about some solar start up company who will hire 200 people in 20 years, but we can’t get the real jobs. It must be our politicians. It is not our environment.
I grew up near Lake Michigan and am well acquainted with that part of the country. I like Milwaukee.
