L.G.Jr. LMAO!!! Worked for this company for 15 1/2 years. Was bar none the best auto group in Colorado from the time I joined them until Lloyd turned over operations to his idiot son. His "hunkering down" was basically cutting out all the top talented people, from top management down to even the lot kids, he had working for him and replacing them with 2nd and 3rd stringers who "cost him less". Now look what it cost him!!
Its a real shame, that was a great organization for a long long time.........but it couldnt have happened to a bigger idiot. Sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree.
Au revoir

The mad chemist is finally getting what he deserved. He chased away all of his top managers that are now running other dealerships that are surviving in this economy. Burt was one of the best auto dealer groups around in their. All of their Parker stores are now closed and the Arapahoe Road stores will soon follow. The empire falls and greed cost them!

Jr destroyed this company years ago. It was only a matter of time before they went belly up under his mismanagement. Sad to see them bite the dust when they were one of the best back in the day.

L.G. Chavez Jr. last year told Hispanic Business Magazine that he has been preparing for the economic downturn for the past five years by cutting expenses, reducing inventory, and developing a “bench” of top managers to help face challenges.

“Your business does not have the luxury of standing still or ‘hunkering down’ until the storm is over, because you will come out of the bomb shelter and find everything moved without you,” Chavez told the magazine.

Ha! The‘hunkering down’ was his ego. His "bench" were all second stringers. Jr chased the varsity team away!

Regardless of the newspaper comments from the owners and Jr., the principle reason for the sale of the remaining Burt Group is that the Parker Road expansion finally overextended the resources of the Burt Group. Another example of a company that made money for years inspite of it's ownership. However, this time, the only hope for a "sale" is that perhaps the banks haven't attached the dealerships Mr. Gillett wants to buy. Maybe those Parker Road stores need to put up the "Going out of Business" signs before somebody comes to get the front door keys. Asta la Vista to "the largest minority-owned automobile dealership in the nation and one of the largest Hispanic businesses in the U.S"
