John Temple, former editor, president and publisher of the defunct Rocky Mountain News, will become an adviser to the Greenspun Media Group, which has more than 30 publications, including the Las Vegas Sun.

Temple told Norm Clarke at the Sun that he will work in an “advisory” role after the Sun’s managing editor, Mike Kelley, retires before the end of the year.

On Saturday, Temple made a brief reference to the consulting work on his blog, Temple Talk:

“I haven’t been posting for a few weeks because I’ve been very busy working with the Greenspun Media Group in Las Vegas and trying to start a new business with a software engineer colleague. I’m not going to write about consulting work for a private firm and I’m not prepared to write about our initiative. But I will try to weigh in more often on journalism issues in coming weeks.”
