Ed Stein: Unnatural Disaster

The Democrats were blindsided yesterday in Massachusetts, and they have nobody to blame but themselves. They have badly misjudged the mood of the American people for months, stringing out the health care debate ad infinitum while ignoring the growing anger over the slow pace of the recovery, the loss of jobs, and the obscene unfairness of the Wall Street bonuses. I don’t know what happens to people once they get to Washington, but they seem to lose the ability to understand anything that goes on outside the beltway. Health care reform is a must, but the long dither and the increasing complexity of the bill, not to mention the pork, special favors and lack of cost controls in the current bill have made it unpopular with the public. I don’t know that people actually oppose the bill so much as they have come to view the single-minded attention to it as an unwelcome distraction from more important things–namely easing the economic pain of so many millions.

The irony of the two-party system is that if the electorate has buyer’s remorse, they have only one place to go–back to the party that created so many of the problems to begin with. The Republicans smell blood in the water, but they shouldn’t be complacent, either. So far they’ve offered nothing but total opposition to anything Obama proposes. It’s still a long way to November, and the mood could shift again if they have no program other than more of the same.

    eddie,

This is just not right. Obama is not sleeping at all he is wide awake and working for the common man. Look at all the good he has done and all the election promises he has kept. Do you see any other president do so many good good things and keep the elections promises like obama in the first year. You do not need to get mad at obama as it is him that is doing everything right. Obama has brought the hope and change and it is so good for the common man. Unless cheny had his haliburtin men in mass it woudl have been differnet. Sly cheny working in mass has nothing to do with the prez being wrong or slow recoverys. Of course this cartoon may be a good reason for obama to help the newspapers with the work they do. he coudl help show you the best cartoons to draw to help the common man and not find fault with obama who everyone loves-except right winged nuts.

Here we go Art, This is all I ask… Just give me some of those election promises that Obama has kept. Thats all I want. He has actually done nothing for your common man except lie to you about almost everything.

  3. Gene says:

THAT OLD OBAMA MAGIC IS BACK . . . the title of Comrade Ann’s column last night. Now that’s humor.

  4. Matt says:

    Hey Art!

Communism never helped anyone, in fact, the ‘common man’ will always have a lower standard of living in communism than compared with capitalism. Obama has done NOTHING, and I hope he accomplishes NOTHING! Anything he would do to “help” would certainly hurt the ‘common man.’ The more I read unReasonableArts messages, the more convinced I become that he is a narcissist, just like his buddy, Obama. The common man doesn’t want your help Art!!

I wish that Obama had been able to accomplish more in 2009; but we need to support him, and the goals that we want to achieve. We need to refute the scare tactics that are used by the opposition to any and all reform that is proposed. When unreasonable lies are spouted, we need to show them to the public as the lies they are….

Remember there are still people out there that want to undo the reforms that the FDR administration did in the 1930s. That every man for himself, and blame the victims attitude has always been with us.

  7. The voter is Independent more than Republican or Democrat. Both parties control from the top down, annoiting who we are to later legitimate with our “free choice vote” bought with millions of dollars in manipulative hype. Nobody likes being manipulated into limited choices. Democrats thought they owned Ted Kennedy’s old seat. They do not.. Whether Scott Brown does good or bad, the point is that the party now knows they are no longer the boss of us.

Looks like you and i are the only ones with good reason left in here at idnt . Obama is right on track and has no needs to do different. See how those cheny men has everyone scared. Even eddie is scared and confused but we know that obama just needs to stay the coarse. And he needs to resist these sly men and the ways to get him to be different. Now is not the time to lose faith but to keep strong. Of course every knows that obama still has the power of most people behind him. This just shows that all the world loves him and he needs to keep on strong with his good acts. How many people do you see that voted for obama a year ago and saw he had the answers? Everyone knows it was people from all ove rthe world. Right now is the time to keep on and let him do his good works.

Just one Art, just one. Also I think that a lot of people were decieved by all of lie’s and that is why the tide is turning. If you would like to refresh your memorie about his lie’s, go back a couple articles to the one where I gave you a list of all of them and I am still waiting to hear just one of his election promises that he has kept from you.

Here you go Art, I’ll start you out… Give a speech at a major Islamic forum in the first 100 days of his administration.

Ya I was so happy to see our commander and chief reading out of the Koranand I hope that you can feel the sarcasm.

  10. R. C. Harvey says:

Years and years ago, a friend of mine worked in D.C. as a disk jockey. He said Washington was like a cruise ship. Every two years, it loaded up and went to sea; then it returned two years later, some people got off, and some new people got on. Then it went out to sea again. That’s where they all are—out to sea.

unReasonableArt lives in the clouds. Would Obama’s policies work? Sure, but only in a world void of human nature. Obama is purposely wrecking our economy, so as to get more sheeple on the Democrat voting roles. The only problem though, is that he’s dealing with Americans, and even though we may get complacent at times, we do eventually wake up and throw you bums out of office.(That democrats think of as a right of power, rather than a privilege.)
Also, more evidence of the fact that unReasonableArt lives in fairy tales, is that he never seems to have an answer to people who challenge him to validate his assertions, beliefs, and statements. I’ll bet it’s wonderful to wander through life without having any core values, or any work ethic. Simply, a true product of our wonderful, cutting-edge educational system no doubt. So, unResonableArt, where’s your next meal coming from? Meals-on-Wheels? My tax dollars? Mayor HickenRitter? Probably not from the hard-working calloused hands of YOUR hard labor. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be such an adamant support of communism. (Cause, THAT’S what it is!) Prove me wrong.

  13. ReasonableArt says:

    pam,

go ahead and help these folks out. i try to explain but they just listen to the cheny media and miss the true facts. you and me got the good reasons in our thinking and know that obama is still the choice of most usa people. look at how the world respects us now and does not think bad of us. look at all the openess obama has with many many interviwews and talks to let the people see the openess of his works. maybe you can explain it to them pam in a way they understand. it is good that you stand up for obama and his good acts. keep the hope and change pam

  14. Deke says:

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ART… All I have been trying to get out of you is an explaination about your thoughts but you never do and when someone calls you out you never respond back. Please tell us about some of these “true facts”.

  15. Matt says:

“Never argue with Idiots. They just drag you down to their level, then beat you to death with experience.”
The world does not respect us, and quite frankly, I don’t care. In fact, I’m glad they don’t. If they did, we’d be doing something wrong…

  16. Gene says:

    Matt;
Great link to der Spiegel – too bad the ‘state run American media’ cannot come up with an analysis like that. But through the new media, truth is getting out to people. This “Unnatural Disaster” in Mass. proves the point. InDenverTimes presents both sides pretty good I think, however aggravating it is to face Ed Stein’s far left views. There are still a many people like Pam who seem to be default Democrats, who do not keep up with the dialog between the left and right to even know there is a dialog. My good and reasonable friend Art is even getting more between a rock and a hard spot in his support of his common man. He will not ever, ‘come out,’ I believe, even though I know he reads der Spiegel and other ‘illegal’ underground ‘Cheney media.’

  17. Matt says:

I like that-Cheney Media. What a bunch of hypocrites.

  18. Ray says:

You know, at this moment I’m not a fan of republics but I disagree with the idea that the house, senate and elective are all ran by the same side. I prefer the idea of at least one of them being an opposite party.

In fact, I’d prefer no party to exist and people just judged electee’s based on ideas, not their party.

  19. Gene says:

    Ray,
We have a two-party system of government, like it or not. Would recommend that sometime, you listen to KOA’s Mike Rosen, when he explains the reality. As he explains, when it comes time to vote in congress, it is a two party system. One or the other. The Supreme Court, as more and more determining law, is also one or the other. You really have to coalesce into the one group you share the most with. Look at the multi-party systems in Israel or Italy and learn the lessons. Look at an independent or 3rd party and be irrelevant. As much as I like the tea-party people and have gone to their rally, they really have to line up behind the R. if they want to be relevant.
