Ed Stein: Out of Control

The Olympics are always a source of good metaphors, at least while they’re being broadcast, and people are familiar for two weeks with sports they never see anywhere else. I thought the poorly-designed luge track, scene of a fatal accident and a number of other training mishaps, was a fine choice for talking about Iran’s reckless rush to build the bomb.

I honestly do not understand this cartoon.

I don’t know that the luge track was poorly designed. It was designed to be fast, to give the home country an advantage, the way I understand it.

I don’t know Iran’s building the bomb was a reckless rush. It has been a purposeful steady effort on their part, undoubtedly on a fast track. If it had blown up in their face, you might say it had been reckless. The track Iran is on, was designed by them, for the purpose of destroying Israel. It is not an arbitrary uncontrolled thing. It seems to be perfectly in their control.

The only thing that is “out of control” is the United States of American being led by an inexperienced and dangerously naive ideologue whose values are not in sync with those of the American people.

Very poor taste – You are the one out of control. Would it still be as clever if it was YOUR loved one who had been killed.

There is a fat article up about Kevin Smith, and every time I try to read the story I get TRU PICKLES . . . Again . . like Corepower Yoga Hacked into INDT site. . . It opens and cannot shut it off. , think it is a Twitter product and not a pickle.

      Gene,

Thank you for your comments, and unfortunately you are not the first to point out the technical problem with this ad.

As you know, revenue is very challenging for our endeavor and especially in this economic climate. These ads happen to pay at a particularly high rate, so we chose to give them a shot.

I had stipulated that the ad can only run once per day, per user. Clearly that is not the case. For the time being I have had the ad disabled until we can isolate the issue.

Would once per day be tolerable?

Please let me know as we value your opinion and certainly your patronage.

      Very best regards,

    Kevin,
Do what you have to do, my friend.
    I understand the commercial needs.
My Safari browser is usually successful in blocking pop-up ads, but it couldn’t stop this one from taking over the whole page. Now if I could get my browser to block Joe Conason !

    Kevin,

That sounds fine but at least make it so you can “X” out of it where it places the ad on a smaller portion of the page like yahoo or other big websites. I love the site but on every computer that I use I find INDT is one of the slowest sites that I visit and to have to wait for an ad to run that you can’t turn off would make me want to find another news source.

    Thank you
