There really isn’t a more descriptive word to sum up the position the Broncos find themselves in now. Three straight losses, a backup quarterback and the Chargers on the horizon, this coming Sunday, the entire season is on the line.
Didn’t we see this coming? The Broncos were fast out of the blocks but the Ravens exposed their weaknesses and every team in the NFL now knows the way to beat them. One final thought. Isn’t it odd that this Cutler trade doesn’t seem to working out for either team? Let me know what you think.
Cutler’s undoing is a result of BAD coaching. Let me put it simple, how else do you explain going from ProBowl Champ to Chump in one season. Bears need to fire Smith and hire Shanahan. Orton is what he is, and he will never lead the Broncos to the Promised Land; but Simms has more of an Athletic upside. if he get the reps this week and is well prepared by Sunday, the Broncos with shock the world. This is the oportunity to Josh to prove he is a great coach, not go out and do it.
Jay Cutler looked better with an actual TEAM around him. He has a cannon arm but isn’t the second coming of anyone so much as Jeff George. Cutler is not “the one”.
Orton is the classic journeyman QB- he gets the job done, but that’s about it. Simms has the athletic potential to be a strong average. I’m more curious about our new baby QB.
In any event, despite the strong start, I think we are looking at a .500 or slightly better season. Noshawn and Elvis are our two bright spots.
What Josh can do with the remainder of the season will tell us how good or bad a coach he is.
I don’t think our biggest issue here is either Orton or Simms. Sure, Orton could be better and yes, Simms is extremely rusty. However, we have to look at the defense too. We’ve given up more than 25 points in the past 3 games! We could’ve won on Sunday if the Redskins didn’t score the second half.
Then again, they held us pretty tight too and Simms probably had no where to throw it. We need to get the defense back to when they started, keep offense moving and then we can win again. This is a two-sided game, not one.
