It definitely appears this was all a planned event by the parents. The Sheriff just announced that there will likely be charges filed.

A six year old wouldn't have been able to pull off this hoax...it was the parent's. I don't see how they are going to make any money out of this. I am going to try though. I designed my 'balloon boy' tshirt. Check it out at: http://www.tshirtmonster.ca/designer/JoesOysterBar/ Click on the t-shirt to choose your shirt/size/colour, etc.

I had reservations that the boy could be in this balloon. It appeared there was not an entrance. The balloon was not flying like a balloon with weight, which caused me to have even more skepticism. The only problem was the media coverage, and I can say honestly I did not comprehend how severe 9/11 was in the beginning d/t hx of media hype. I had my suspicion about the balloon incident but have been extremely wrong in the 9/11 incident. After the media showed a picture of something that appeared to be falling from the balloon, I was really sick that I had my doubts. The family should have to pay for this hoax. As a nurse that has had to body bag more than 100 deceased people over the years, this was the sickest publicity stunt I've ever seen. Do they realize that the emergency workers were working on this, when there were other people in dire need that could have died because of this?
In the video of the balloon being released, I couldn't make out that there was any basket there. I also noticed that the father is rather dramatic in his storm chaser video's, much like someone that seeks attention. Could this father be bipolar? The wife appeared sub servant like.

I wondered if the flying saucer balloon project was really big enough to carry a six-year-old, so I did a little math: http://stevewilsonblog.com/2009/10/15/yes-it-couldve-carried-him-maybe.aspx
