Avs Stewart named NHL First Star

Avs Chris Stewart celebrates a goal March 6th


The National Hockey League announced Monday that Colorado Avalanche forward Chris Stewart was named NHL First Star of the Week for the period ending March 6th. In four games that week, Stewart had 5 goals and 4 assists. He had 1 goal and 1 assist against Detroit, 1 goal and 2 assists against Anaheim and 3 goals, including one on a penalty shot Saturday night in the Avs rout of St. Louis.

Second Star of the Week was awarded to Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Third Star went to Bryan McCabe of the Florida Panthers.
