Avalanche Injury Update: Salei Out, Cumiskey Back

- Image via Wikipedia
Avalanche defenseman Ruslan Salei, fresh off of a season-long injury, is back among the ranks of the unavailable. Salei played for his native Belarus in the Olympic Games, and has been back on the ice for Avalanche, picking up one assist in six games. This time the injury is a generic sounding “torso” injury, and according to team he’ll be on the bench indefinitely.
The “indefinite” nature of the injury points to something more than just a common bump or bruise, and could spell the end of Salei’s tenure with the Avs, thanks to his $3M per year expiring contract.
On the other side of the injury coin, Kyle Cumiskey is set to return Tuesday against the Canucks. Cumiskey, suffering the after effects of a concussion, is in the midst of a breakout year, playing in 44 games and notching 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists).
