Arapahoe shows biggest drop in foreclosure fllings
The 20.5 percent drop in Denver-area foreclosure filings in the first quarter was not evenly spread between the seven counties.
Arapahoe County showed the largest percentage drop, with foreclosure filings falling 31.62 percent over the same period a year ago. In the first three months of this year, the county had 1,334 new filings, compared with 1,951 in the first quarter of 2008.
Adams and Denver counties showed the next biggest percentage drops, falling 23.16 percent and 22.8 percent, respectively. Adams had 1,327 foreclosure filings compared with 1,727 in the first quarter of 2008, while Denver had 1,524 January through March, compared with 1,975 in the first quarter of 2008.
Jefferson County experienced a 8.23 percent drop, with 926 foreclosures, compared with 1,009 in 2008, and Douglas County had a 5.2 percent drop this year, with 630 filings, compared with 665 in the first quarter of last year.
In Broomfield, foreclosure filings fell by 11.3 percent, with a mere 70 in the first quarter of this year, compared with 79 a year earlier.
Boulder was the only county to show a year-over-year increase. But as with Broomfield, the numbers were small.
There were 291 foreclosure filings in Boulder in the first quarter, compared with 278 a year earlier, a 4.5 percent increase.
